North Bend, WA

North Bend is a small city in King County, Washington, situated in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains along Interstate 90. With a population of roughly 7,000 residents, it has the feel of a compact mountain town while functioning as a convenient stopover for travelers heading east into the Cascades. The city is widely recognized as the gateway to Snoqualmie Pass and the broader outdoor recreation region of the central Cascades, and it gained additional fame as one of the principal filming locations for the television series Twin Peaks. About twenty-five minutes east of North Bend, the Snoqualmie Pass area offers year-round recreation, including alpine and Nordic skiing at The Summit at Snoqualmie, snowshoeing in winter, and hiking and mountain biking once the snow recedes. The pass also serves as a popular entry point for exploring the surrounding Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, with trailheads, campgrounds, and alpine lakes scattered through the surrounding ridges.

A few minutes north of the city, Rattlesnake Lake and its surrounding trail network provide a more accessible outdoor experience, with a flat lakeside path, mountain views, and a connecting route into the Cedar River Watershed. Nearby Snoqualmie, just west of North Bend, also hosts the Northwest Railway Museum and the historic Snoqualmie Depot, adding a small cultural and historical dimension to the area.

For short-term rental owners, North Bend offers an appealing combination of small-town character and proximity to some of the most-visited outdoor destinations in western Washington.
