Allowed in many districts with moderate permitting and fees (~$40 land-use permit + inspections), but vacation rentals are prohibited in R‑1 and the Elm Street Overlay and subject to clear operational rules (one booking/night, 24/7 local contact, signage limits, safety requirements). The permitting and tax compliance process is structured and manageable, with most risk tied to zoning selection and compliance rather than outright bans.

Gettysburg (; locally ) is a borough in and the county seat of Adams County, Pennsylvania, United States. As of the 2020 census, the borough had a population of 7,106 people. Gettysburg is most famous for its role during the American Civil War as the site of the Battle of Gettysburg, the turning point and bloodiest battle of the war which was fought from July 1 to July 3 of 1863. Later that year, on November 19, President Abraham Lincoln traveled to dedicate Gettysburg's National Cemetery, where he delivered the Gettysburg Address, a carefully crafted 271 word address considered one of the most famous speeches in history. Gettysburg is home to the Gettysburg National Military Park, where the Battle of Gettysburg was largely fought; the Battle of Gettysburg had the most casualties of any Civil War battle and is also considered the turning point in the war, leading to the Union's ultimate victory.
