Sperry, OK

Sperry is a small town in Tulsa County, in northeastern Oklahoma, with a population of roughly 1,200 residents. It carries a quiet, rural character and serves as a peaceful community within the larger Tulsa metropolitan region. Sperry sits about 12 miles north of downtown Tulsa, roughly a 20-minute drive south, and visitors sometimes use it as a calmer alternative to staying in the city while keeping Tulsa's attractions within easy reach.

As one of the last preserved sections of tallgrass prairie in North America, the preserve offers scenic driving tours, hiking trails, and viewing areas for large herds of free-roaming bison. In Tulsa, the Gathering Place is a sprawling public park along the Arkansas River that has earned national attention since opening in 2018. About 25 minutes south of Sperry, the park features playgrounds, gardens, a skate park, splash areas, and miles of walking and biking trails, making it a popular destination for families and casual visitors. Also in Tulsa, the Philbrook Museum of Art is housed in a 1920s Italian Renaissance-style villa surrounded by formal gardens, roughly 25 minutes from Sperry. The museum holds an extensive collection of Native American art, European paintings, and decorative arts that draws visitors from across the region.
