Columbus is the capital of Ohio, situated in Franklin County in the central part of the state, with an estimated population of around 905,000 residents, making it the largest city in Ohio. The park draws hikers, photographers, and cabin-goers year-round and is one of the most-visited natural areas in Ohio.

Downtown itself is anchored by the Scioto Mile, a network of parks, fountains, and walking paths along the Scioto River that ties the city center to the riverfront. A short walk away, the Topiary Park offers a quieter, more offbeat stop with its living topiary recreation of Georges Seurat's "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte."

Columbus makes a compelling base for short-term rentals thanks to this combination of urban amenities, walkable historic neighborhoods, and easy access to nature.
