Athens, OH

Athens is a small city in southeastern Ohio, serving as the county seat of Athens County. With a population of approximately 24,000, the city is best known as the home of Ohio University, one of the oldest public universities west of the Allegheny Mountains. A short drive west of Athens brings visitors to the small town of Nelsonville, home to the restored nineteenth-century Stuart's Opera House, which hosts concerts, films, and community events. The Nelsonville area also borders Wayne National Forest, expanding the range of hiking, horseback riding, and backcountry options within easy reach of the city.
