The park sits roughly 15 minutes from downtown Dover and gives the city a surprisingly easy escape into woods and water. Within the city itself, the First State Heritage Park links several of the capital's historic sites along a walking route that includes the Delaware State Capitol, the Old State House, and the Johnson Victrola Museum, providing an easy self-guided day for guests interested in the state's colonial and early-statehood history. Dover Air Force Base, home to the Air Mobility Command Museum, is another steady draw for military-history visitors passing through the region.

Dover's appeal as a short-term-rental base comes from this combination of concentrated, recurring demand drivers, including race weekends, legislative sessions, military visitors, and beach-bound travelers, paired with outdoor and historic attractions that fill the gaps between them.
