Challenging to Investors
STRs are allowed in many commercial/mixed‑use zones but residential areas are largely restricted to homestays, and the Inland Area unincorporated residential ban creates uncertainty and heavy compliance risk. Permitting is required (planning permits, TOT registration), advertising without permits is illegal, and investors must navigate both county rules and Lompoc municipal requirements.
